3-Pretty Girl and Dangerous Eyes

Love PoV

If someone had asked me what the most annoying thing in my life was a month ago, I would've said anatomy practicals.

Now?

The answer had changed.

Her name was Kritika Sharma.

āø»

I sat in the library, flipping through my pathology notes while trying to memorize a list of diseases that would probably ruin my sleep later.

The library was unusually quiet.

Perfect.

Exactly how I liked it.

No noise,No drama,No idiots.

Unfortunately, that peace lasted less than five minutes.

The chair opposite me scraped against the floor and Kabir dropped into it dramatically.

I didn't even look up.

"Go away," I said flatly, turning a page.

"Wow," Kabir replied, placing a hand over his chest as if I'd personally hurt him. "Good afternoon to you too, sweetheart."

I continued reading.

"Brother," he said, leaning forward with a grin.

"What?"

"I just saw your girlfriend."

My pen stopped moving.

Slowly....Very slowly.

I raised my eyes and looked at him.

"Kritika isn't my girlfriend."

Kabir's grin widened.

"Interesting."

"What?"I asked.

"I never said Kritika."

I closed my eyes.

For one beautiful second, I imagined strangling him with my stethoscope.

āø»

The idiot laughed.

Loudly.

"Relax, Romeo."

"Leave."

"No."He said while smiling.

"Leave."

"No."

"Why are we friends?"

Kabir thought for a moment.

"Because God wanted to test your patience."

āø»

I hated how that actually sounded possible.

After another ten minutes of Kabir being a public nuisance, he finally left.

I should've felt relieved.

Instead...

My mind wandered back to the same person it had been avoiding all morning.

Kritika.

Again.

I sighed and rubbed a hand over my face.

This was getting ridiculous.

The girl was chaos in human form.

She talked too much,Argued too much,Smiled too much.

And somehow...

She'd become impossible to ignore.

āø»

The worst part?

I didn't even know when it started.

āø»

Maybe when she challenged me during practicals.

Maybe when she refused to back down from an argument.

Maybe when she looked completely confident while being completely wrong.

āø»

Whatever the reason was...

It was becoming a problem.

By lunch break, the cafeteria was packed.Students crowded every table while music played softly from somewhere near the counter.I grabbed my food and looked for an empty seat.

That's when I spotted her.

Kritika sat with Anisha and Jyoti near the window.

Her head was thrown back in laughter while Anisha dramatically acted out something.

The entire table looked one second away from getting kicked out.

Typical....

I should've looked away.

Instead, I found myself watching for a second longer than necessary.

Then another.

Then—

"Bro."

I groaned.

Kabir appeared beside me like a curse.

"What?"

His grin was immediate.

"You were staring."

"I wasn't."

"You absolutely were."

"I wasn't."

"You looked at her for ten whole seconds."

"That's not staring."

"That's premium staring."

I ignored him and sat down.

Unfortunately, the universe wasn't done embarrassing me.

A girl suddenly appeared beside our table.

Tall,Pretty,Confident...

The type who clearly knew she was attractive.

"Hi," she said, smiling directly at me.

I looked up politely.

"Hi."i said with a lil smile on my face.

"My name is Riya."

I nodded...."Okay."

Silence.

Riya blinked.

Clearly expecting more.

Kabir nearly choked on his drink.

"You know," Riya said after a moment, crossing her arms with an amused smile, "most people continue conversations."

I leaned back in my chair.

"Most people let others eat in peace."

āø»

Across the cafeteria, laughter exploded.

āø»

My eyes automatically moved toward Kritika's table.

There she was.

Trying—and failing—to hide her laughter.

āø»

The idiot was practically dying.

When our eyes met, she immediately looked away and pretended to be interested in her fries.

A smile almost appeared on my face.

Almost.

The rest of the day passed normally.

Classes,Lectures,Assignments.

The usual torture.

By evening, students were finally leaving campus.

The roads outside the college were crowded.

Cars,Bikes,People everywhere.

I was walking toward the parking area when something familiar caught my attention.

Kritika.

She was walking across the road.

Earphones in,Phone in hand,Completely distracted....

Of course she was.

I shook my head and was about to continue walking when something made me stop.

A car.

Fast,Way too fast...

And she hadn't seen it.

My stomach dropped.

"Kritika!" I shouted.

No reaction.

The earphones.

"Damn it."

Everything happened in seconds.

The car moved closer.

She kept walking.

And before I could think—

I moved.

Fast.....

I reached her just as the car sped toward the crossing.

My hand wrapped around her wrist.

Firm.

Warm.

Real.

And I pulled.

Hard.

The horn blasted loudly.

The car rushed pasy

And suddenly—

Kritika crashed straight into me.

For a moment, neither of us moved.

āø»

My hand was still holding her wrist.

Her fingers had instinctively grabbed my shirt.

And both of us were breathing harder than we should've been.

āø»

Her eyes slowly lifted to mine.

Wide,Shocked,Beautiful....

I immediately looked away from that last thought.

"What the hell?" she whispered, staring at me.

"What the hell?" I repeated, narrowing my eyes. "Were you trying to die?"

Kritika blinked before pulling her hand back.

"I was not trying to die."

"You were literally walking into traffic."

"No, I wasn't."

"Yes, you were."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

Oh My God!!This girl is just impossible.I think while looking at her.

She crossed her arms and glared at me.

I glared back.

We were standing in the middle of a road arguing after I had just saved her life.

Normal....Very normal.....

Finally, she huffed and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"You didn't have to yell."

Something in her voice made my anger disappear.

Because for the first time since I'd met her...

She looked shaken.

Not annoyed,Not confident,Not sarcastic.

Just shaken.

And somehow...

I didn't like seeing her like that.

"Just be careful next time," I said quietly.

The words came out softer than intended.

For once, she didn't argue.

She simply nodded.

Silence settled between us.

A strange silence.

The kind that felt different.

Then her phone rang.

Kritika glanced at the screen.

And immediately froze.

The color drained from her face.

My heartbeat slowed.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.....

"Kritika?" I asked, frowning.

She answered the call with trembling fingers.

For several seconds, she said nothing.

Just listened.

Then I watched her expression completely change.

Fear.

Pure fear.

The phone slipped from her hand and hit the ground.

My stomach tightened.

"Kritika," I said again, taking a step toward her. "What happened?"

She looked up at me.

And for the first time since I'd known her...

Her eyes looked terrified.

"Love..."

Her voice cracked.

"My brother..."

She swallowed hard.

And whatever she was about to say next...

Made my blood run cold.
